Ryan Fielding Garrett is a NYC-based composer, music director, orchestrator, and, most importantly, a ginger.

Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Ryan discovered a love for music at an early age, singing and performing all over. He also appeared in many TV commercials and is extremely grateful that those ads haven’t found their way onto YouTube yet.

As a composer, Ryan has collaborated with celebrated lyricist and librettist Anthony Drewe on Freak The Mighty and The Good Hair Day. His choral work Snow was premiered by the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, and his Return to the City Overture debuted with the San Antonio Symphony. His compositions and arrangements can also be heard in various theme parks and cruise lines.

As an orchestrator, Ryan has worked with Andrew Lippa, Renée Fleming, the San Francisco Symphony, and on musicals like Darling and A Night Like This

As a music director and conductor, Ryan has has been very fortunate to work on a variety of Broadway shows, including Kinky Boots, Wicked, Back to the Future, The Notebook, and Mean Girls. He has also music directed the New York productions of Jasper in Deadland and The Man in the Ceiling (+original cast recording). He has played piano for Hamilton, Wicked, Mary Poppins, Matilda, New York New York, and Sweeney Todd (NY Philharmonic), among many others. Regionally, Ryan has served as music director for productions of Becoming Nancy at the Alliance Theatre, Kinky Boots at the Muny, and Next to Normal at Weston Playhouse. He has music directed for Elizabeth Stanley, Heidi Blickenstaff and worked with composers like Andrew Lippa and Adam Guettel.

Ryan is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University

Beyond his professional work, Ryan loves to hike and visit as many national parks as possible. (Latest count: 23!) He will also ride most any roller coaster that looks visibly safe.
